Video games have Indonesia Archivesbecome so much more than idle playthings. As technology has advanced, and as the medium has advanced, developers have pushed the definition of games beyond just entertainment, creating interactive experiences that make us think, help us learn, and explore what it means to be a game.
For the third year in a row, Mashable is partnering with Games for Change to present the Mashable+ Games for Change People's Choice Award, as voted on by you.
SEE ALSO: The VR for Change Summit shines a spotlight on impactful virtual reality projectsStarted in 2004, Games for Change invests resources in making socially conscious games more available, by incubating projects and creating and allocating funding for others. Its Games for Change Festival honors the most impactful, innovative, and fun titles in the field from the previous year with an awards ceremony.
The Games for Change Awards has four categories voted on by teams of judges: Best Gameplay, Most Significant Impact, Most Innovative, and Best Learning Game. It also contains a People's Choice category for fans to cast their vote, and Mashableis partnering with G4C to host the voting.
All 11 games, no matter which award they were nominated for, are up for the award. They are listed below:
At Play in the Cosmos, nominated for BEST LEARNING GAME
At Play in the Cosmosputs players in the pilot's seat, where they journey through space and time in a quest to solve mission challenges. The game helps students build an intuitive understanding of the scale of the universe, the tools astronomers use, and the process of science.
DragonBox Big Numbers, nominated for BEST LEARNING GAME
Dive into the world of the Nooms and learn big numbers, long addition and subtraction in DragonBox Big Numbers.Your child is challenged to think strategically over the course of the game to trade resources and unlock new worlds.
Epistory - Typing Chronicles, nominated for MOST INNOVATIVE
Epistoryimmerses you in an atmospheric action/adventure game where you play a girl riding a giant fox who fights an insectile corruption from an origami world. As you progress and explore this world, the story literally unfolds and the mysteries of the magical power of the words are revealed.
Everything, nominated for MOST INNOVATIVE
Everythingis about the quiet explosion of life going on all around us. It is a simulation of reality where everything you see is a thing you can be, from animals to planets to galaxies and beyond -- you can be the universe or create your own.
Liyla and the Shadows of the War, nominated for MOST SIGNIFICANT IMPACT
Liyla and the Shadows of the Waris a game based on actual events, it tells a story of little girl lives in Gaza during the war in 2014.
Minecraft: Education Edition, nominated for BEST GAMEPLAY and MOST SIGNIFICANT IMPACT

PRY, nominated for MOST INNOVATIVE
PRYis a hybrid app that collides cinema, game, and book to reimagine how we can touch, close, and pry into a story, moving seamlessly among words and images to explore layers of characters' consciousness.
Sea Hero Quest, nominated for BEST GAMEPLAY
Sea Hero Questis the world’s first game where anyone can help scientists fight dementia. As a sea explorer’s son, save your father’s memories by navigating your boat through five levels. Your navigational skills will be recorded with the data contributed to a global benchmark for special navigation, helping dementia research.
Tracking Ida, nominated for BEST GAMEPLAY
Tracking Idais an educational ARG inspired by pioneering journalism of Ida B. Wells and piloted in Watts in 2017. Players learn about Wells’ crusade against lynching by unlocking archives and solving puzzles. Connecting history to the present, they investigate police killings today and learn media-making to spread awareness.
Walden, A Game, nominated for MOST SIGNIFICANT IMPACT
Walden, A Game, is a first-person simulation of the life of American philosopher, Henry David Thoreau, during his experiment in self-reliant living at Walden Pond. Players follow in Thoreau's virtual footsteps, balancing their basic survival needs with a search for the sublime in the small beauties of the woods.
1979 Revolution: Black Friday, nominated for BEST LEARNING GAME
1979 Revolution: Black Fridayis a choice driven, narrative game that brings players into the brooding world of a nation on the verge of collapse. Play as Reza, an aspiring photojournalist, and make life and death decisions as you survive the gritty streets of Iran in the late 1970s.
