The idea of a letter to the would-be first female president is cropping up elsewhere, including Twitter, where the #DearHillary hashtag is an opportunity to pen a 140-character letter to the former secretary of state.

In the Pantsuit Nation Facebook group one woman put together a group letter with over 100,000 digital signatures. She told Mashable in a message that she is hopeful the letter will get to the candidate.

Another group member shared a letter her 12-year-old daughter had written to Clinton in the days after Trump's win.

Letters directed to Clinton herself seem to be a variation on many letters CEOs have sent their employees and celebrities have written to family members about dealing with an unexpected Trump presidency.

There's just something about writing your feelings down.
