Now that it's Nov. 1, and Christmas is just under two months away, Carey has put Halloween behind her (she dressed up as Morticia Addams by the way) and welcomed the holiday season with a new Santa-inspired video.
Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" is debatably the queen of holiday tunes. Launched 30 years ago, the upbeat holiday song is still a timeless classic. Billboard reports that each year, Carey earns around $1.55 million from the song’s plays and sales, along with an additional $830,000 in royalties from its use — all before fees are taken out.
According to an estimate from The Economist, as of 2017, the song generated $60 million through royalties since its 1994 release.
