Mario has widowed thousands in his journeys to rescue Princess Peach, and each murder weighs on his soul for an eternity or more. He slogs through the bowels of Hell in a world that makes no sense to him so that he may slowly atone for his sins.

Mario has no physical being. Any human person, Koopa, or otherwise whose body he possesses feels intense pain whenever Mario forcefully takes control of their brain and movements. As does Mario.
