Fletcher, a British actor who has directed three other films including 2016's Eddie the Eagle, was tapped after Twentieth Century Fox fired Singer for not showing up to set on multiple occasions, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He also reportedly clashed with the film's star Rami Malek, who plays the late Queen frontman.

Singer's replacement, Fletcher, most recently made a film about another famous British man: ski jumper Eddie Edwards, who competed in the 1988 Winter Olympics.

Bohemian Rhapsody is set for a Christmas release in 2018 -- unless setbacks delay production.
