While some developers working with ARKit002 Archivestrying to figure out how to make augmented reality apps for productivity, even more are using it to let us have fun in new ways.
That's definitely the idea behind a new app from Ataru Tou called MagicMovieCamera, which lets you place various virtual objects in real spaces and then record yourself reacting those objects.

The app even allows you to edit scenes after recording, so you can achieve exactly the kind of frozen-in-time effect you're looking for:

The only thing missing in these demos are dramatic music tracks to accompany the visuals. But maybe that feature will be added later when the app is released this fall by the developer, when ARKit-friendly iOS 11 is officially released to the public.
