Ahead of Martin Luther King Jr. Day in 2015,Blue Night (2024) Hindi Web Series Spotify built a playlist of the civil rights leader's speeches in his honor. This week, ahead of the January 15th federal holiday, a new speech appears at the top of the playlist: Oprah's Golden Globes acceptance speech.

DeMille award with a speech about the power and importance of representation in media and the Time's Up initiative. She also shared the story of Recy Taylor, an African American woman who was raped in Alabama in 1944 by five white men, none of whom were charged with a crime.
After Taylor's death in December, the New York Timesreferred to the horrific event as "an early catalyst for the civil rights movement."
Oprah said: "She lived – as we all have lived – too many years in a culture broken by brutally powerful men. For too long, women have not been heard or believed if they dared to speak truth to the power of those men. But their time is up."
Within minutes, she had the internet calling for Winfrey 2020. It was a historic moment for Oprah.
Now her speech is available in full on Spotify, where it lives at the top of the streaming service's "We Shall Overcome" playlist.
Oprah isn't the only artist featured alongside King's words. The playlist also includes music from Mahalia Jackson, Common and John Legend, Jay Z, Sam Cooke, and the Beatles, to name a few.
