In 2012 and 2013, the ice cream was released seasonally in Japan and was a huge hit both times.

This return, which was announced on Twitter on Aug. 29, has been heralded by many as perhaps the greatest addition to the ice cream market since hot fudge.

The ice cream is, "said to contain the gentle sweetness of purple potato in the ice cream, with the addition of a purple potato sauce giving it the appearance of an adzuki red bean topping you’d usually find on a traditional Japanese sweet," reports RocketNews.

This treat retails for 294 yen ($2.88 USD), but it's hard to put a price on this kind of excitement.
