【boy actors, female roles, and elizabethan eroticism jardine】
As a self-appointed honorary Dunder Mifflin employee I can't believe I'm about to type these words. But please, boy actors, female roles, and elizabethan eroticism jardine for the love of all that remains good in this world, DO NOT revive The Office.
I am obsessed with the show. I consider myself best friends with all cast members — though I have never technically met any of them — and I would undoubtedly win a Dundie for "Most Enthusiastic 'The Office' Superfan," but the world does notunder any circumstances need this revival right now.
Please listen to me.
On Monday, when TV Line revealed that a revival of the beloved NBC comedy was being considered for the 2018-2019 season, I was initially as joyous as Stanley Hudson on Pretzel Day. But the lightheaded bliss was fleeting and I quickly realized a revival of The Officewould be a straight-up horrible idea.
SEE ALSO: Netflix puts troubling rumors about 'The Office' to rest in the best wayAs much as we would all love to see where Michael, Jim, Pam, Dwight, Kelly, Ryan and the gang are now, and as much as I would love to drool over John Krasinski, here are five very good reasons this revival should not happen.
1. No. Steve. Carell.
Though TV Line noted the potential revival would feature "a mix of new and old cast members," any hopes that the return to Scranton, PA, would include Steve Carell reprising his iconic role as Michael Scott have already been shot down. Despite him tweeting a false rumor of a revival in January, Carell will reportedly have no involvement with the new series.
Via GiphyIt's a well-known fact that The Office was no-where nearas good after Carell's Season 7, Episode 22 departure. Some barely held on while NBC introduced us to Michael's possible replacements, shuffling through big names like James Spader, Catherine Tate, and Will Ferrell. Others stopped watching completely. As hard as the series tried to try and fill the void of World's Best Boss, it couldn't, and we should not dare attempt to proceed without him again.
This simple revelation should serve as reason enough to slam the breaks on a revival, but for the sake of this article here some others.
2. My heart can't bear to see the tolls industry changes have taken on Dunder-Mifflin
Hello, is there any way this small paper company is still surviving? Sure they were bought out by Sabre, that weird printer company no one can pronounce, but PAPER?
IDK if these guys have heard but everyone's pivoting to video, which means less physical text, which means less paper. It's very simple.
Dunder Mifflin has already dealt with downsizing, they've consolidated and merged branches, and they've been bought out, and it was all extremely stressful for them. Don't bring them back NOW, of all times. You monsters.
3. These people are famous as hell now and might let us down
We loved these characters since 2005, long before many of the actors had become household names, but now, they've made it! They're famous! They've got a lot of sh*t going on, and I'm sure some of our favorites, in addition to Carell, won't be returning.
Soon-to-be mom Mindy Kaling has A Wrinkle In Timeand Oceans 8 on the way, and she's working on her own NBC series, Champions, at the moment.

Jenna Fischer's starring in Splitting Up Together, and hell, John Krasinski is so famous he can now write, direct, and star in a movie as the husband of his IRL wife Emily Blunt.
If you extend the invite for everyone to return and we only get a fewof the characters, like Creed, Toby, and The Senator, now not only will be feel abandoned, but The Officeis gonna straight-up suck because it'll feel like sort-of the real thing, but decidedly not. Don't do this to us.
4. lol revivals suck
2016 and 2017 have taught us so much, and among the wisdom we've learned is that good things should not be revived. Just ask Rory Gilmore, I'm sure she would agree with us.
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Lifeleft us with some absurd burning questions that can only be answered with ANOTHER revival. Fuller Houseis a bunch of breaking the fourth wall without nearly enough John Stamos. We loved Arrested Development and it went out on a high note, which is why it did not need to return. And as much as it pains me to say this, I know deep down I could have happily lived the rest of my life without seeing Wentworth Miller break out of ANOTHER prison.
Via GiphyRevivals are often bad, which means amazing memories of original shows become tarnished and once that happens there's no going back. The Officedeserves better and the stars should highly consider stopping this from happening.
5. If you love something, let it go
Sure it's fun to catch up with characters that were such a huge part of our lives for years, but we said our goodbyes and we've gotta let it go.
You know that classic scenario when a person and their best friend realize they've always been secretly attracted to each other? And they want to see if they can make things work but agonize over whether they should risk ruining their friendship by taking things to the next level?
That's me and this revival. I get wanting to bring back something so so good, I do. But I'm not willing to risk shattering the perfection of the original series yet. It was hard to say goodbye, but I think it was time.
Via GiphyTalk to me in ten years, but as for right now the only Office-related television productions I am open to are more episodes of The Mindy Projector a new show exclusively starring Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak.
Thank you.
