It's perfectly normal in 2017 to spend all your spare time bingeing Netflix,Inglorious Bitches (2011) but the company recently released data to show that different shows are streamed at certain times of day.

Netflix used user data from 22 countries over six months to find trends in viewing patterns. For example, comedies are more likely to be viewed in the morning and end of the day.

“For years our lives had to fit around television, now it’s the other way around,” said Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content at Netflix. “We’ve given consumers control and it’s interesting to see the behaviors that emerge when viewers aren’t tied to a schedule. And even more so to see that these routines are replicated by millions the world over.”

Start the day with a laugh

Netflix found that users were 34 percent more likely to watch comedies in the morning than any other time of day, using shows like Fuller House, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, The Office, and Friends as examples.

Save the drama

Dramas performed best at midday, accounting for 47 percent of viewing around the world. Dramas were also popular in the evening time, but were often swapped out for comedies before viewers actually powered down for the night. That means heavy drama from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. (a 27 percent increase from the previous time block), and then comforting comedy to ensure sweet dreams

And if sleep and dreams aren't in the cards, chances are that you're busy watching documentaries, which enjoyed the most views between the hours of 12 a.m. and 6 a.m.

If you can't sleep, you might as well learn something.
