He was the editor-in-chief and president of news at Times Nowand ET Now. While the company has not officially confirmed his departure, several Times Nowstaffers have since publicly confirmed his departure. At his over decade-long stint as a journalist, Goswami has polarized India's television news viewers with his aggressive, often noisy, debates on his daily 'News Hour' show on Times Now. The show is known for its loud and intense debates, with as many as six panelists often speaking at the same time, with Goswami usually having the last word.

Goswami, who was on a one week leave, appeared on 'News Hour' yesterday. It’s being reported that this was his last 'News Hour' as the host. Naturally, as news about his departure started to circulate last evening, people began to wonder where Goswami will go next.
He may have plans to launch his own news venture, according to News Minute. "Independent media is going to thrive," The Quintreported Goswami as saying in the editorial meet. According to the publication, he said, "The game has just begun," 15 times in the editorial meeting. Apart from the curiosity around where he goes next, questions have also been raised about the future of Times Now, the English news channel from one of India's oldest and most prominent media groups. Goswami, who was its face, was also responsible for making it one of India's most watched English news channels
