004 ArchivesLate Showhost hosted Sunday's Emmys, and he wasted no time in calling out the current state of American politics with his monologue and a musical number.

Colbert went on to compare Trump to Walter White ("Walter Much-Whiter") and doing an impression of Trump while reading an old tweet about former Emmy host Seth Meyers.
"Unlike the President, Emmys go to the winner of the popular vote," Colbert joked.
Colbert's opening number "Everything is Better on TV" had him walking into Archer, This Is Us, Stranger Things, and The Americans("Even treason's better on TV") before joining a line of bowed handmaids from The Handmaid's Tale. The group of them took the Emmys stage, where the handmaids stripped off their tunics to reveal sparkly leotards and perform in a kick line (HMMMMMM).

Of course, the former Colbert Reporthost and Daily Showcorrespondent would hardly be afraid to call out political ineptitude when he sees it. Colbert hosted the 2006 White House Correspondents Dinner, where he famously eviscerated the Bush administration to their faces -- it was the reference of choice for many covering Hasan Minhaj at the same gig this year.
